Among non-profit organizations in the province of Quebec, the Eye Disease Foundation is the most important source of funding for research on eye diseases.
Eye diseases affect over 3.5 millions of canadians. Diabetic retinopathy (eye disease) is the leading cause of blindness in people between 35 and 60 years of age. In the province of Quebec, close to 90 000 cataract surgeries are performed yearly and 70 000 canadian workers are hurt to an eye. It is therefore crucial to continue the funding of reasearch !
More than 600 cornea grafts are performed each year in the province. The Eye disease foundation is proud to support the organ and tissue donation program and invites you to sign your health insurance card to signify your consent for organ donation.

Thanks to the Eye disease foundation, more than 3 millions $ have been distributed to fund research projects. More than 15 000 children have participated in our visual screening clinics and close to 3000 free pair of glasses have been given to children who live in poverty.
